Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Pizza Crust Review

Trader Joe’s carries ready-to-use gluten-free pizza crusts in their freezer section. They’re made with a combination of cauliflower, cornstarch, and rice flour. Perfect for a quick fuss-free meal.

Gluten Free Pizza Crust:

I was pleasantly surprised by Trader Joe’s gluten-free cauliflower pizza crusts. They come in a two pack and they’re ready to use. Just top and bake.

Like most gluten-free pizzas, the crust is thin and slightly crispy. It reminded me of a crispy flatbread more than a pizza, but a delicious one without any weird aftertaste or texture issues.

If you like thin, crispy crusts, I highly recommend these. It gives you the option to get creative with your toppings! My 4 year old son quickly demolished 3 slices, so I’d say he liked it too!

How to Make Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Pizza:

Cooking Instructions:

Here’s the exact instructions on the box:

  • COOK FROM FROZEN, DO NOT THAW.
  • Conventional oven: Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove crust from freezer and allow to stand at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes. Top with your favorite toppings and bake directly on center rack of oven for 10 to 13 minutes of to desired level of crispness.

How I made them:

  • Top the crusts with a thin layer of pizza sauce or brush with olive oil. Don’t go too heavy on the sauce.
  • Add a thin layer of cheese. Mozzarella is a classic option, but any melting cheese works!
  • Add a thin layer of toppings. Remember, the pizza only takes 10 minutes to cook. Most raw veggies won’t cook fully in this time. It’s best to slice them very thin or sauté them first.
  • Bake at 425 degree for 10 to 13 minutes. I removed mine at 10 minutes for a slightly chewy texture. For a crispier texture, bake it longer.

Where do I find it?

You can find the gluten-free pizza crust package in the freezer section. They have a section dedicated to frozen pizzas. I found it on the top row.

If you can’t find it, ask an employee and they should know where it is!

Is it worth it?

I paid 3.99 plus tax, which makes each crust around 2 dollars. Two bucks is super affordable for a gluten-free pizza crust!

The crusts are small, but most gluten-free pizzas are. I would defenitely buy these again for their convenience and flat-bread style flavor!

Topping Ideas:

If you’re not sure what kind to make, here’s a few ideas to get you started:

  • Olive oil + Fresh mozzarella + Fresh basil + Sliced tomatoes + Italian seasoning
  • Pizza sauce + Shredded mozzarella + Pepperonis
  • Basil pesto + Shredded Mozzarella + Cherry tomatoes
  • Pizza sauce + Shredded Italian cheese + Roasted red peppers + thinly sliced red onion + red pepper flakes
  • Pizza sauce + Shredded mozzarella + Crumbled bacon + Pepperoni + thinly sliced peppers + black olives

Gluten-Free Pizza:

Here’s a few of my favorite gluten-free pizza brands:

  • Freschetta Gluten-Free Pepperoni Pizza – The brand I buy the most!
  • Kirkland Signature Cauliflower Crust Pizza – Find this one at Costco.
  • Against the Grain Uncured Pepperoni – Expensive but larger than other brands and tasty!
  • California Pizza Kitchen Cauliflower Crust Pizza – A tasty option for sure!

Gluten-Free at Trader Joe’s:

Trader Joe’s has a ton of gluten-free options! They don’t have a designated gluten-free section though. The products are dispersed throughout the store.

They do have a gluten-free product list. Ask customer service to print it out for you.

Thoroughly check the box when looking for a gluten-free label. Sometimes the label is on the bottom or back of the box in small letters.
