Trader Joe’s Green Onion Pancakes
After my Taiwanese brother-in-law recommended them, I knew I had to try Trader Joe’s Green Onion Pancakes! They’ve got crispy edges, soft flaky layers, and just the right amount of chew.

Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes:
My sister and her family love Trader Joe’s. When I asked about her favorite items, her first response was their Taiwanese green onion pancakes. Her exact words were “a hidden treasure.”
Her Taiwanese in-laws love the convenience of this item, since green onion pancakes are a labor of love! You have to roll the dough, rest it, fill it, and roll it again, without the filling oozing out the sides.

They are a popular street food in Taiwan. Imagine a savory flatbread with a crisp, golden brown exterior and soft, flaky layers inside. When you rip the flatbread apart, you can see all the layers!
I give them ten stars because they’re easy and delicious!

- Green onions
- Coconut oil

How to Make them:
Trader Joe’s green onion pancakes are super simple to make!
Cooking Instructions According to the Box:
- Remove all packaging being sure to remove the plastic between the pancakes. Heat 1 tsp oil in pan over medium heat and add frozen pancake. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Drain briefly on absorbent paper.
Cooking Instructions:
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add a teaspoon of oil and let the pan get hot! If you add the pancake too early, it will soak up the oil and get greasy.
- Remove the pancakes from the package. Remove the first sheet of parchment separating the pancakes.

- Place the frozen pancake into the hot skillet. Don’t thaw the pancakes!
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until the exterior is as golden brown and crispy as you like. Don’t press down on the pancakes while they cook. You don’t want to smoosh all the layers.
- Transfer the hot pancake to a paper towel to absorb any excess grease. Enjoy immediately!

Storage:
- If you have leftovers, store cooked pancakes in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Reheat the scallion pancakes in an air fryer, skillet, or oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until warm and crispy.
Ways to Serve them:
- With an Asian dipping sauce! You can buy one in the international foods aisle or make your own with soy sauce, rice vinegar, mirin, sesame oil, fresh ginger, and garlic.
- With egg and fresh basil!
- Sprinkle with furikake – a Japanese seasoning mix. It’s a combination of white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, nori, salt, and kelp powder. Trader Joe’s has their own version.
- Breakfast taco – Stuff with scrambled eggs and bacon for an American style breakfast taco!
- Use them as a base for a quesadilla
- Soup – Serve with any type of egg drop soup or Chinese congee.
